If you’re using an Apple Watch (or another Bluetooth connected device) with your iPhone, iOS 9 has a nice little surprise. You can now add a convenient battery stats widget to Notification Center so you can view battery life in a single swipe.

I like to use the iOS 9 battery widget because it allows me to save some space in my top status bar by turning off the battery percentage indicator. Instead, I can just swipe down when I want to see an exact percentage.
To close the Notification Center, either drag the three little gray lines (at the bottom of the list) upward or tap anywhere outside the list. To open a notification, tap it and it will open in the appropriate program. To clear all notifications from a particular app, tap the little x in a circle to the right of the app’s name (look at Calendar and Reminders in the figure). Nov 07, 2019 Widgets are part of apps, or some apps run mostly or entirely as widgets. The point is, an app must come with its own widget. You cannot force an app to show a widget in the Notification Center. Apps that come with a widget will probably advise it on their Mac App store page, or the product page.

If you don’t see the Batteries widget as an option, remember that you have to have an Apple Watch or some other kind of Bluetooth connected accessory that runs off battery paired to your iPhone. I’d imagine if Apple released other connected accessories in the future, their battery statistics will filter into this widget as well.
Even if I didn’t have a connected accessory, I’d still prefer percentage in Notification Center just to save space in the status bar. Alas, Apple doesn’t currently give that option. Perhaps in a future update.
Bonus tip: View iPhone battery life on your Apple Watch
If you want to do the opposite and view your iPhone’s battery life right from your wrist, Thientam Bach created a great little widget that supports glances. It shows you your iPhone’s battery life right from your Apple Watch.
